Petr Bartoň Having previously only been able to profess his "western values" as an illegal scout, after the Velvet Revolution Petr could complete his secondary education in the UK under the tutelage of Prof. Parkinson (of Parkinson’s Law). With an economics degree from Cambridge he went for a PhD at the University of Chicago, and has been a disciple of Gary Becker’s economic approach to human behaviour ever since. In the Czech Republic he has taught economics at universities, worked as a chief economist for investors, and promoted greater reliance on argument-by-data (rather than by conviction) in public debate. Alas, still a long way to go.
